The Open Institute for Social Science is an independent center of academic excellence, committed without compromise to local and international best practices. Though we aspire to be a resource to the worlds of policy and development, we are financially autonomous and thus free to be a very different kind of voice. We value rigorous methodology and highly contextual forms of expertise. We share our work through passionate teaching and the craft of writing. We seek to facilitate the open sharing of knowledge, and we believe that high quality social science can be a profound force of change underpinned by our common humanity.
